Templates
Templates function by organizing your layers, and once you’ve uploaded your assets, you’ll need to initially organize your layers by editing the default template.
However, the template feature also allows you to create multiple template types in a single collection. The template feature provides a simple way to match layers you’d like to see together or turn off certain layers for some portion of your tokens. Templates work best when you have different attribute layers set up for your different traits.
So, let’s walk through how to use Templates!
When you navigate to the Templates tab, you’ll see a default template.
You can always rename templates to other words such as types, species or categories, by selecting the three dots next to the title and selecting Rename.
You can adjust the rarity of each template with the rarity slider, just like the traits.
Template Use Case Example
Let’s say that for our collection, we want textured backgrounds to be rarer, showing up less often in our token set. First, select the default template. We are going to rename the template textured.
Then, we will set the rarity to rare.
Next, we need to create a new template for the more common tokens without textures. You can create a new template by selecting + New Template in the upper right.
We’ll call this new template, standard. Then, all we need to do is turn off the texture layer. Once you turn off an attribute layer, it will no longer show in the metadata.
We will keep the rarity for our new template at very common.
Note: If you don't change rarity, each template will be distributed equally.
After saving the new templates, head over to the preview tab and regenerate your collection. You’ll now see that textures are showing up much less often in the token set!
The templates will also now show up in the filters menu, so you can preview with ease!
